Library Leadership Ohio is an intensive, residential leadership education program.� The program has developed the talents of many leaders now serving Ohio�s libraries.� Graduates of the first seven classes have seen their visions manifest within the organizations that they have come to lead.� The innovative spirit that was set over a decade ago progresses on to the eighth leadership institute, to be held July 27� August 1 , 2008.� The institute will be held as long as the funding is secure.� By May 16th LLOHIO will know for sure if we receive the funding.� If we do not all applicants will be contacted and we will plan for 2009. |

Mentoring is an important component of the total learning.� The selected� mentors have a wealth of experience in public, school, academic and state libraries and state library networks.� They will share real-life leadership experiences, successes, failures, joys, frustrations, wisdom, perspective and advice,� They will also facilitate discussions, give brief presentations on topics of special meaning to them, and schedule time to meet with participants to discuss career goals.

For more than twenty years, Becky Schreiber and John Shannon have been providing consulting services to private industry and government clients, first as internal organization development consultants, and since 1983, as partners with Schreiber Shannon Associates. The creators of Library Leadership Ohio, Becky and John have extensive���� experience working with libraries.� They also served as facilitators at the Snowbird Leadership Institute in Utah for twelve years, and were asked to transform Snowbird into the Aurora Leadership Institute in Australia.� They have 3 facilitated state institutes in Alaska, North Carolina, Texas, Maryland, Montana, Illinois, New Mexico, Idaho, Nebraska and Nevada.

Selection Criteria |
Participants will be selected from among applicants who meet the following criteria: � Librarians with 2 �10 years of library experience after earning a Master of Library Science degree. � The Institute will also accept candidates who are currently working on an MLS degree and have 2-10 years of library experience � Recognizing that some potential leaders may not have access to a library school or their position does not require an MLS degree, the Institute will accept candidates with 5�10 years of library experience in non-MLS positions. As one of the selected applicants, you will have demonstrated: � Outstanding leadership potential � Excellent communication skills � Successful library employment experience � Initiative, commitment and reasonable risk taking � Forward-thinking approach to problem solving � A commitment to the profession
